Side projects for my other hobbies. Stuff that I would like to sell one of these days. If you see something you need, let me know. Weird stuff for a Jeep site; I can't work 100% of the time!
The 7mm pellet rifle is re-done! Sept '09

Finished,
refined and powerful. The .30 cal pistol has been out done. This
bad-assed .284 cal pellet rifle started life as a wimpy .22 cal CO2
Crosman pellet rifle, kind of like a jeep 4cyl engine. Once again,
something nice and politically correct has been ripped apart and maxed
out.
With its' silly little CO2 chamber and release valve ported and opened up, there is quite a bit of potential in this
"toy". I actually blew the stock, plastic receiver up when I was done with the valve assy and tried to shoot it with the .22 cal barrel with stock pellets.
So much for establishing some kind of base line for future mods. This was the second time around for me and a Crosman airgun. Next comes a .338 cal version!
Mods for this gun:
STEEL receiver, custom oversize transfer port from CO2 valve. Hammer bored for a huge hammer spring and tapped for a cocking handle.
Nice Remington 20 inch, 7mm Mag barrel, whittled down to fit and threaded 1/2-28 for accessories.
Steel bolt and handle. Steel front sight. Stock plastic rear sight retained for now. Custom Aluminum barrel band.
All steel polished and blued, wood with a few hand rubbed layers of finish.
Custom tool steel swagging dies for pellets; took a long time to get these right! Lead semi-wadcutters; Best for the short range of 50yds for this rifle. Hollow points may come soon, although expansion at these velocities won't be that impressive.
I think I'm finished with this one; Final ballistics numbers are:
34gr 510 fps 19.6 ft/lbs
The .338cal alongside the 7mm. Big difference in bore size.

Man
does not live by Jeep alone. This nasty vermin dispatcher sports a
highly modified power plant and a Dirty Harry like, .30 cal barrel 10 inches
long. My own custom, 46 grain swagged semi-wadcutters fly out of
the muzzle at 400 feet per second, for a whoping 16 ft/lbs muzzle
energy. Yes, it's only good for 15 shots. Good trade off for some brute force.
Custom steel receiver, bolt, bolt handle, over size hammer spring with bored out hammer, low profile sights and 10" barrel. Highly modded Crosman 2240! Winter project, Summer fun!

46 grn semi-wad cutters seem to be the favorite weight for this beast. I was disappointed with the results with projo's in the 30-38 grn range. They had the velocity, but at least 1 lbs less energy at the muzzle.
